Leave A Lasting Legacy

The Fundraising Campaign deemed necessary to purchase and transform Myrtle Louise's former home into a living history museum, was launched at "A Good Ole' Cabaret" on August 16, 2013. The need for a non-profit organization of this complexity and nature, is rooted in the vision of a lasting monument dedicated to preserving the legacy of Myrtle Louise. In reference to our mission statement, the intentions of The M.L.S. King Living Legacy Guild are to preserve, share, and carry on the legacy of this one-of-a-kind woman. To educate future generations about the past, broaden the minds through the performing arts, and enhance our community of Littlestown by advocating for historic preservation. This House & Museum will not only focus on the multi-faceted life of Myrtle Louise, but will culminate the personalities, locals, and eras which define her inspirational zest for life. The walls of this institution will house an expansive collection of artifacts pertaining to her life in Littlestown, New York City, and Hollywood. Having been founded in 1765 and located just south of Gettysburg, PA, Littlestown is at a prime location for history based tourism. By having a state of the art House & Museum of this standard open to the public, we will undoubtedly attract visitors and patrons from all over the world. The incredible interest in having such an institution has grown substantially since the establishment of The M.L.S. King Living Legacy Guild, and is a momentous undertaking for all to be a part of.

Much like Myrtle Louise's “Littlestown Walk of Fame Star”, you have a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a part of history and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.  Each donor will be recognized for their generous contribution, no matter how small or great. This is an integral project which impacts not only our loyal Littlestown Community, but wonderful supporters all over the country. Spread the word about this unique and noteworthy endeavor, let the whole world know that you show your support! In case you’re wondering, The Myrtle Louise Stonesifer-King (Louise Howard, Halo Meadows) Collection is continually growing and now contains well over 1,000 original artifacts pertaining to Myrtle Louise's life and family dating as far back as the mid-1800s. Some artifacts include, but are not limited to; Myrtle’s personal effects such as baby doll furniture, chandelier, theatre relics, photographs, film footage, and correspondence; Pharmacy items which  consist of entrance doors, bottles, phone booth, photographs, and advertisement ephemera. Owned and preserved by THE BITTLE BROS., this is just a brief snapshot of what the collection presently holds. Only time will tell what may turn up next!

Prior to and since its launching, crucial steps have been taken towards bringing this dream to fruition. Professionals in the construction, electrical, zoning/code, legal, and real estate fields have assessed the 14/16 South Queen St. property’s structural integrity, value, and requirements. The promotional video for the Fundraising Campaign has been produced to be used for meetings with potential donors. Another huge milestone was reached in July 2014 when we received 501 (c)(3) tax exempt status from the IRS, making all charitable contributions from donors like you, tax deductible. Through our social media pages and this beautiful website, we are able to reach out to the greater public to continue our mission. Much of the groundwork has been laid, now this is where you come in. We need each and every one of you to show your support! In addition to showcasing Myrtle Louise's extraordinary life, the House & Museum will also feature the important individuals and places that she held near and dear to her heart. This will be a monument to be celebrated not only by our town, but by all those who visit. It will truly be a lasting legacy which will ignite our community pride once again, a treasure we can all be proud of!
